Cdre Jerome Zemo Jatau attended the Nigerian Defence Academy as a member of 29 Regular Course and was commissioned as sub-Lieutenant in 1984.

He went to Armed Forces Command and Staff College Jaji for Junior Division Course and Ghana Armed forces Command and Staff College for Senior Division. He later attended National Defence College Bangladesh where he obtained a Master’s Degree in Security and Strategic Studies.

He was Operations Officer on board several Nigerian Navy War Ships at home and in Liberia during ECOMOG operations. He was the Commanding Officer of NNS OLOGBO, an offshore patrol ship which conducted several maritime patrol operations against maritime illegalities.

He was also Commanding Officer Underwater and Diving School and Base Commander of NNS VICTORY His last major appointment was as Chief Staff Officer Logistics Command Ogharra.

He retired voluntarily after 33 years of Meritorious service to the nation. He enjoys water sports and nature watch. He is married to Mrs. Saratu Jatau and the marriage is blessed with 2 daughters and 2 sons.

Commodore Jatau has an open mind in decision making process and is innovative, critical and analytical in thinking which has enabled Hydro Marine and Boats Services to reposition itself for greater and success.
