Hydro Marine And Boats At The 2nd Annual Boat Builders Summit
Hydro Marine and Boats was present at the 2ND ANNUAL BOAT BUILDER’S SUMMIT held by Lagos State Water Way Authority, headed by the General Manager, Oluwadamilola Emmanuel.
It was an insightful summit for us, we met with the Director-General and other top officials of the commission. We had firsthand information of the LASWA Mandate, their impact, and unsung manifestos, which is of benefit to all boat builders and water transportation companies in Lagos state.
They also seized the opportunity to inform us of their expectations, and the state’s policy, governing how boat building businesses and other maritime companies should be operated.
We met other boat-building companies and personnel that make up the ecosystem, there was also networking between individuals.
There was a session for stakeholders to voice out their observations, expectation, and complaint, it helped solidify the summit as a whole, and for us @HMBSERVICESLTD we acknowledged that the challenges we face as an organization were not peculiar to us only.
Our Managing Director, Capt. Festus Hodewu had the opportunity to join the discussion on the use of fiber and aluminum for boat building. He demonstrated the 21st-century technology of building aluminum boats while maintaining cost, how to manage cost implications which is the major factor to consider when building boats. He concluded the much-applauded discussion by addressing the common issues faced when building multiple Aluminum boats.
Our take-home was priceless! We noticed the body of LASWA wanted us to operate and use best practice gadgets, build state-of-the-art passengers’ boats that are safe, now and in the nearest future, but these are what make up our repertoire, they are our norm. They expect that in the nearest future, the Lagos waterways should have aluminum boats that are sea-worthy, use gadgets like Radio, GPS, Modern Pressure Toilets facilities, life-buoy, and other safety accessories, and these are the barest minimum you can find in boats we manufacture in Hydro Marine and Boats.
This was a wake-up call for us, we have resolved to showcase aggressively, any boats we build from now on, showcasing the capacities others only dream to have, and if possible, take all boats to LASWA for certification and acknowledgment.
Attending the summit was part of our resolve to maintain best practices in the maritime industry while abiding to all local, national and international policies guiding the industry.
